As most of you scout leaders have noticed, the new 12th edition Scout Handbook is out, and this handbook has a completely new layout. The scout handbook also introduces everyone to the Teaching EDGE. Edge is the trademarked method of the BSA for teaching.
EDGE will be making an appearance in all the up-coming publications as the leading way to teach our youth the values and skills necessary to succeed in scouts. Trainer’s EDGE is the place to learn about all things EDGE. This course will help any leader improve their training skills, and enable them to better train the youth in their unit. The Miami Valley Council of the Boy Scouts of America will be offering this comprehensive training to all leaders on Saturday, January 30th, 2010 at the Schiewetz Training Center from 8am – 5 pm. Trainers’ Edge is required for all Unit Trainers (Cub, Scout, Venturer), District Trainers, Council Trainers, Staff Members of Buckskin and Wood Badge, as well as strongly recommended for all Scout Leaders. Lunch will be provided, so participants must pre-register for this course by January 27th, 2010. Sound interesting, prices and directions are available, please see flier for more details, or contact Mike Clinch via email at
